The Chamber job is one of the most critical parts of building a precision rifle. When dialing the barrel in for a match grade chamber, I use Gordy rods to get the first 6 inches of the barrel running as true as possible. I then use a long stem interapid indicator and finish the alignment procedure dialing in on the actual bore. The natural curvature of the bore is then indexed to the 12 o’clock position. The barrel is then pre-drilled and bored to .050 short of the shoulder. This is the secret to ending up with a chamber that is perfectly strait with no run-out. The chamber is cut using a high-pressure muzzle flush system for the smoothest surface finishes possible. My Chamber’s when finished will show no measurable run-out from the back of the chamber to the throat where the bullet starts it’s journey.
